UK online publication Autocar reports that Mercedes-Benz is going after the BMW X6. This after previous reports of Audi doing the same thing. Merc’s car is apparently going to be called the GLS and will be based on the all-new ML-Class which was revealed two weeks ago. It would feature a sloping rear roofline, just like the CLS.
A GLS would of course initially only sit four people, with a possible rear “bench” seat to be introduced at a later stage of its lifecyle. Engines will be pretty identical to the ML, although only those with a sportier inclination are likely to make the list. These include the new 4.7-litre twin turbo with 320kW and the 5.5-litre twin turbo making up to 420kW from the new AMG cars.
