Hybrid BMW X5 will be available until the end of 2011

The BMW Group will begin selling a hybrid version of the X5 crossover before the end of 2011. It is reported by Dutch Autoblog citing unnamed sources.

BMW X5 crossover will be equipped with hybrid power plant consisting of a diesel engine, electric motor and batteries. Specifications of this unit is not called. Experimental hybrid, built on the X5 and presented at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, was equipped with a hybrid setup with 204-horsepower turbocharged diesel engine. Fuel prototype was 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers. In this case, carbon dioxide emissions into the air vehicle does not exceed 172 grams per kilometer.

Production of a hybrid BMW X5 begins in the summer of 2011. Tentatively, the car will be premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.

In mid-April, BMW introduced at the Shanghai Motor Show, a prototype hybrid version of the BMW 5-Series, designed specifically for the Chinese market. The car has a power plant, combining a 215-horsepower turbo, motor power 94 horse power or batteries located in the trunk. According to preliminary data, one electric, "Five" is able to drive 75 kilometers at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
