BMW 328 Hommage

Intending to celebrate 75 years from the birth of the famous BMW 328 the chief of the department of design Adrian van Hooydonk brought to the Villa d'Este design competition the concept BMW 328 Hommage, which is an exercise of design born from passion for motorsport.BMW 328 remained in automobile history as a reference model from period between WW I and WW II being included in top 25 most imported cars of the 20th century. Its success is also related to the record obtained in 1940 at the  Mille  Miglia race. This car is a pure roadster with 2 seats and 2 doors just like the Vision Connected Drive concept presented by BMW this year at the Geneva Motor Show.BMW 328 Hommage is an extremely light car weighting only 1719 lbs thanks to reinforced plastic with carbon fiber CFRP used for the side pannels and the cockpit. The remarkable are the retro details with direct reference to the original. The interior is build in a futuristic manner with simple lines, a clean sport and a bit spartan design. The driving seat is separated of the passenger sea, the steering wheel has a neo-retro design and the commands on the dashboard are as few as possible.Officials haven't said anything about the engine. This great hommage was deeply appreciated by everyone at Villa d'Este.
